Breaking Out and Staying Free

Micah 2:13 13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.

We live in a time when we must rid ourselves of all the baggage that would hinder us in the next season we are entering in 2010. In a recent prophetic word from Marsha Burns, she said the Lord has shown her that 2010 is a year of breakthrough. This confirms the direction the Lord has taken me in the first two weeks of ministry to Impact Church in 2010…that of breaking out of the old season and cycles, passing through the threshold of that place and breaking into the new place the Lord has for us. I believe there is a God given strategy or process for obtaining breakthrough found in this short verse of Micah 2:13:

First, we must get a revelation of the Breaker in our life and allow that revelation to break up the old ways of thinking and the old mindsets that hinder us from hearing the “now” word of the Lord. The word “breaker” in Micah is the word “parats” in the Hebrew and it means to break through or to break out of (as a womb or enclosure). We must break out of the mental boundaries that have prevented us from seeing what God has for us in the future. We must break out of the mental boundaries that have kept us in fear of pursuing what the Lord desires to do in our lives. 1 Samuel 3:1 says “And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.” If we give a little clearer definition to 3 words in this verse we can see the emphasis more clearly. First the word precious can be translated “rare, expensive, prized”, so the word of the Lord was rare or prized in those days. Secondly, the word open is the word “parats”, the same as breaker in the Micah scripture and can be translated “break through” according the Hebrew. And the final word, vision is the word prophecy or divine communication or prophetic revelation. So we can rephrase the verse to read “and the word of the Lord was rare in those days, there was no break through revelation” A study of the life of Eli the priest will show the danger of not receiving or heeding the revelation of the Lord. The best place to get that breakthrough revelation is the Word of God. The Word of God is critical in the days we are living in and if you are in need of a revelation from God, seek His written Word and allow the Spirit to bring spiritual revelation to you. We must also learn to heed the voice of the prophets. We should test the spirits of the prophets to make sure they are of God and we should weigh their words according to the Word of God. Prophetic revelation should bear truth in our hearts to what the Lord is showing us personally. So we must seek to receive that “Breakthrough Revelation” from God in 2010.

Secondly, we must break through the gate or the threshold. A threshold is a cross over place and it is often the place of risk, faith, decision, danger, and where spiritual warfare can be intense. It can be compared to the eye wall of a hurricane. At the eye wall are found the most intense rains and wind and must be passed before entering into the eye of the storm where peace and stillness are found. The threshold is the place where either spiritual birth or spiritual abortion will take place. It’s a place where we must press in to get into the new place and where all baggage must be dropped. The threshold is a narrow place where only the essentials will be allowed to pass through. All unhealed wounds, insecurities, offenses, and ungodly beliefs must be left on this side of the threshold to take hold of what lies ahead. As someone said recently concerning offenses, “don’t let offenses fence you in”, and I would add , “fence you out” of your destiny.

Thirdly, we must have “Break Through and Break Out Worship” if we are going to break out and stay free. The Scriptures tell us in Ezekiel 46:2 … and he shall worship at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go forth. Worship is key in our victories in life. Recognition of the true identity and source of the Breaker is reason enough to worship. At this place of recognition, we bow our knee to the awesome God that we serve. When we humble ourselves, He will lift us up and He will put a new song in our hearts (Psalm 40:1-3). The Lord will always give us a “new song” in the new season. We cannot enter the new season with the old songs. So many are resistant to letting go of the old songs of “woe is me….I’ll never get through…I don’t have enough…I can’t …” We must realize that the Lord has put a new song in our heart and it is a song of praise to Him. In 2 Chron. 20:22 (NLT), the Scripture tells us “at the very moment they began to sing and give praise to the Lord”, the Lord sent an ambush into the enemy camp causing the enemy to get into such confusion that they destroyed each other. What a great victory to win a war without raising a single weapon, other than praise. Praise is the weapon in this year and praise will not only get you free, it will keep you free.

I believe we will face many battles in the days ahead, but we are assured of victory if we follow the Ways of the Lord as revealed in His Word to us. This short strategy will bring us out, through and into what the Lord desires for us in 2010. I believe 2010 is a time of pressing into the things and Person of Christ. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and He will lead us out of captivity and into freedom in every area of our lives.

Do not get discouraged in the days ahead. When things seem the darkest is when He can shine the brightest in our lives. Let’s let Him shine in our lives in 2010.

Blessings and love,
Pastor Donna
